Principia Wins Class 3 Title, Four STL Teams Headed to Final Four
2026-03-15
Saturday's games are in the books. State championship berths on the line, and the STL area had a lot at stake. Here's how it went down.
STATE CHAMPIONS: Principia Wins Class 3
Principia (28-2) is your Class 3 state champion. They dropped 98 on Miller Career Academy in the semifinal and finished the job. After putting up 106 in the district final and holding Liberty (Mountain View) to 33 in the state semis, Principia was the best team in Class 3 all postseason. They proved it. Congratulations to Principia on bringing home the title.
Heartbreaker: Sikeston 62, Vianney 60
This one hurt. Vianney (24-5) came in as one of the best Class 5 teams in the area. Sikeston (27-2) had been rolling all postseason. It came down to the wire — a two-point game. Sikeston survives, Vianney's season ends. Tough way to go out.
All-STL Showdowns
Vashon 68, Orchard Farm 53 — The all-STL Class 4 semifinal went to Vashon (23-3). Orchard Farm (25-4) had the better record coming in, but Vashon was the better team on the floor. A 15-point win sends Vashon to the state championship.
De Smet Jesuit 77, Francis Howell Central 54 — De Smet (24-5) dominated Francis Howell Central (25-4) by 23. FHC came in with the better record, but De Smet made a statement. They're heading to the Class 6 state championship.
Cardinal Ritter 81, Marquette 76 — Both teams came in at 21-9. This was a coin flip on paper, and it played out like one. Ritter wins by 5 in a back-and-forth battle. Their upset run continues — they knocked off SLUH and Lindbergh to get here, and now Marquette. Ritter is going to the state championship.
MICDS 59, Holt 47 — MICDS (24-4) handled Holt (18-11) by 12. MICDS was the favorite and played like it. They advance to the Class 5 state championship.
Clayton Rolls
Clayton 77, Dexter 54 — Clayton (22-7) put up 77 and cruised by 23. Dexter had just dismantled Potosi by 35 in the quarterfinals, but Clayton's offense was too much. Clayton is heading to the Class 4 state championship to face Vashon. All-STL title game.
Best Close Game
Blue Springs South 74, Oak Park 73 — A one-point game. Oak Park (24-5) had the better record, but Blue Springs South (22-7) pulled off the upset. That's as close as it gets.
Rest of the Slate
Rockhurst 42, Kickapoo 29 — Rockhurst (26-1) wins by 13. Defense wins championships, and Rockhurst held Kickapoo to 29.
Bunker 61, Brunswick 54 — Bunker (30-2) survives a seven-point game against Brunswick (29-4). Two of the best Class 1 teams in the state, and it showed.
Logan-Rogersville 73, Nevada 39 — Logan-Rogersville (26-3) wins by 34. Dominant.
Benton 65, St. Michael the Archangel 43 — Benton (29-1) handles St. Michael by 22. St. Michael's Cinderella run ends.
